I am suffering from rheumatoid arthritis since past 3 years. Presently have to take painkillers and corticosteroid on a daily basis. Besides I am also on hydroxychloroquine and sulfasalazine. Methotrexate was prescribed but I am not tolerating it due to severe side effects. Please advise.

Well pain killers and steroids are not a good option daily. Sulfasalazine and hydroxycholorquine are safe but they may not be enough to control the disease. Kindly discuss the option of leflunomide with your rheumatologist or biological therapy if needed. But go for pain killers and steroids as soon as you can.

Hello. There are other options like leflunomide, in case you are intolerant to methotrexate. Considering you are already on steroids and 2 dmards (sulfasalazine & hcqs), I would suggest you take any biologics therapy for better control of your disease like adalimumab or etanercept or tofacitinib etc.
