My wife is suffering from hypothyroidism. Tsh 15.7 doctor prescribed thyrox 50 mcg. Can she take "multivite woman softgel" tablet. Please suggest a multivitamin tablet during thyroid. Also we are planning for baby as soon the tsh level be normal.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details, it is clear that TSH is fairly high(15.7 mU/L). With treatment it should be brought around 3 to 4 mU/L, at that level most symptoms are in check. Any multivitamin combination is as good as any other. The brand mentioned is good enough. As regards planning for a baby, it is essential to maintain TSH around 2 mU/L. Please let me know whether she has diabetes as well as high blood pressure? Because in the drugs being taken there is mention of Metformin and some antihypertensive drugs? If diabetes is present then it is absolutely very essential to achieve a very strict glucose control during pregnancy. Thanks
