I'm 18 and under prescription of antidepressant sertraline 125 mg. About a few weeks ago I missed my antidepressant for a week. And due to that, My body was like tremble as it was having electric shock. My heart was race and I felt very anxious and scared. Also, I was also having vision illusion sometimes. But it's got better after I never miss the sertraline again. The problem now is, those symptoms are attacking me even if I never miss even a single dose. I curious, is those are really effects of missing dosage or there is any other factors that lead my body to this condition?

lybrate-user, you need to consult your doctor immediately who has given you this medicine, if you are having all the above symptoms. One thing of major concern is that you are just 18 and you are taking this antidepressant. You have not mentioned the cause of your depression. Have you gone for counseling? If not then I suggest you to go to a psychologist (counselor) for counseling because, your depression will not be fully cured by only medicine, you need counseling too. Though you might be feeling better after taking this medicine but remember, there are many side effects also if taken it for a long time. So, if you really want to come out of your depression, then seek counseling too.

Hello lybrate-user, stopping tab. Sertraline suddenly can cause anxiety, headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea, irritability etc. However we can not be certain that your symptoms were due to medicine withdrawal only. A detailed history and review of current symptoms can help you manage your symptoms. Please consult your psychiatrist for the same. You can contact me if you have any further query.
