My mother's sister was told by doctors that she has around 4-5 litres of water in her lungs and consulted to take out that water in around 2-4 times with a batch of 1-1.5 litres. Can it really happen that our lungs have 4-5 litres of water which cannot be removed in one or two time.

Yes itmis possible. But just removing water will increase problems. Better take right treatment to remove the cause of water collection.
