I am 25 years old male suffering from ocd currently taking fluoxetine but of no use? Is thr any permanent treatment of it?

Its a very good drug for ocd. But since the dose of fluoxetine us usually double of what is used for depression, many doctors will raise it slowly, so that there are no side effects. It also takes effect 3-4 weeks after optimal dose is reached. So if you have started it recently, please wait for a while. Also please consider doing a course of cbt from a qualified psychologist in combination with drugs, it gives the best result for ocd. Till then please do a google search for 'thought stopping' and try using the methods described there.

Beside medication, you should put effort to stop doing repeated actions. Divert your attention when you are prompted to do repeated actions. Avoid being alone. Develop hobbies and engage yourself. Do some physical exercises which helps you to stay healthy.

Dear lybrate-user, since how long you are taking fluoxetine and what is the dose? Ocd needs larger dose of fluoxetine, say 60-80 mg/day. It will be gradually increased. It takes 2-3 weeks to start its action. At times, you may need cbt with erp in addition to find relief from ocd.

Yes, there are multiple other medications that could be useful for ocd. However, it is individualized treatment and depends on the type of ocd you have as well.
