I am 23 years old and had been to a dermatologist for acne treatment. As suggested by the doctor I started taking isotretinoin capsules everyday. I was on alcohol and took the tablet. Since then I haven?t got my periods. Does it have any adverse effect on my reproductive system. Can this be solved and can I know the reason for my missed period.

Isotretinoin itself can sometimes cause irregularities in your menstrual cycles. And sometimes it can have other causes like stress, irregular food habits or other medications, even a hormonal imbalance. And isotretinoin can cause fetal abnormalities so if you are planning pregnancy then you need to stop it 1 month before trying to conceive. For now, I would suggest you stop isotretinoin and check if your periods become regular again and consult your dermatologist to figure out an alternative therapy which would be suitable for your skin.
