Is it safe to take diavit plus capsule and cold-c lifelong for diabetes. My mom have been taking this since 8 yrs.

Hello, thanks for the query. Taking vitamin supplements for long time is quite safe. However, taking anticold remedies containing phenylpropanolamine and chlorpheniramine is not advisable. These drugs should be always used occasionally and just for few doses. Thanks.

Some patients take multivitamins and feel comfortable, but if you are taking fat soluble vitamins like a, d,e, k for years as in your mom's case, I will suggest their estimation in blood to avoid their toxicity leading to harmful side effects. Over the counter preparations for cold should not be used regularly for such a long time.
