Dear Harish, Venlafaxine in adequate dose is the treatment for depression. Sometimes the adequate dose needs to be built over weeks. Venlafaxine takes time to start its action as antidepressant. So Quetiapine is prescribed for few weeks or months to give some respite as sleep, less flooding of negative thoughts, less doubts, etc. Once venlafaxine takes action, there is no need to have other tablets
