Hi barley reduce blood glucose levels.
Ask Free Question
Hello, Thanks for the query. Madam, Barley has many nutritional benefits, however, the major portion of it is carbohydrate. That is 100 g of Barley gives 78 g of carbs. Which get converted to glucose. So when one takes barley blood glucose is bound to rise proportionately. Madam all grains mainly contain carbohydrate, whether it is rice, jowar, bajra, wheat, or other millets and maze. So consuming these grains in the form of cooked rice, or roti or chapati does get converted to glucose. Hence there is a need to balance out the food with pulses and fat containing substances. Eating only rice or just barley is definitely not good. You may have to look at adding some other foods in the diet. Thanks.
