I am a diabetic patient of 67 years old. I have lost my hunger and I am suffering from anorexia. And my weight is decreasing day by day. My height is 167 cms and present weight is 50 kgs. Previously my weight was 62 kgs and it is decreasing day by day. Under the above can I take cyproheptadine hydrochloride tablets i.e ciplactin or digeplex sugar free syrup or any other else? Please suggest to me.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details, in which there is no mention of how is your blood glucose controlled. Sometimes if blood glucose is not wll controlled, there is a chance of loosing weight and developing signs of general weakness. The medicine mentioned (cyproheptadine) is actually an antihistamine. Appetite stumlation is a side-effect of that drug. It is not supposed to be taken for that at all. Plus it will produce fair amount of drowsiness. Thanks.
