I took brief treatment for generalized anxiety disorder 18 months back. That time I was depressed and unable to work, hence changed job. Treatment included escigress 5 tablets for 3 months and etilaam pro on sos basis. Now again, I am unable to do my work. The only days I can focus are when I take etilaam pro. I have taken it 4 - 5 times now and do not want to make it a habit. I do meditation, exercise on weekends. I used to spend 2-3 hours browsing internet every night which I have stopped since a week. These days I have strong intention to work but just unable to get started. I have to force myself up from bed and reluctantly push myself to go to office. I am in constant fear of repeatedly missing my deadlines. I start working only when situation becomes very serious. I am afraid of losing my reputation. I just want to start enjoying my work and be productive like others. I want to avoid getting distracted on every small excuse. Do I need treatment again? Will it work? Thank you!

Dear user, nervousness or anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. These feelings may cause physical symptoms, such as a racing heart and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. Anxiety medicines alone cannot cure anxiety disorders mainly because medicines do not alter behavior. Behavior change and continuous practice of the changed behavior cure anxiety.

Generalised anxiety disorder is commonly a long term condition requiring continuous treatment, so kindly get back to your psychiatrist and restart the treatment. You can also combine with cognitive behavior therapy for better results. Only cbt or counselling may not help. Good luck.
