My wife is taking thyrox 50 mcg from last 1 year and her thyroid was also normal (tsh around 2). But she had a miscarriage in november and tsh was 8.53 at that time. Doctor told us to wait for 3 month for next planning. Today (09/04/20) her tsh= 6.92, she is taking thyrox 50 mcg regularly. Please suggest proper dose of thyroxine and any precautions/medicine for next planning.

Hello, Thanks for the query. First and foremost is her Hypothyroidism has to be strictly controlled. TSH has to be maintained around 2 mU/L. Plus once if conception occurs then TSH has to be maintained through out the gestation period around the same number. It is clear that present dosage needs to be increased. You ask her to take 62.5 mcg that is add 12.5 mcg and then check TSH after 6 weeks. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
