My psychiatrist has said I can stop taking clonazepam now but I am unsure. I took a low dose of 0.25 mg once a day for a month then 0.125 mg once a day for 3 months. I now take 0.0625 mg once every 2-3 days, so around 2 times a week. I?m very scared of withdrawals because of the horror stories. What symptoms would I expect if I stopped now and would it be fine to just stop taking it?

Nothing at all because you have reduce it fractionally and your brain has gotten used tot he reduction and is therefore quite capable of coping with total stoppage. But I know that it is better if you seek the advice of yoru psychiatrist who has been treating you all along and knows best about you and your reaction to guide you properly and professionally. Never try to self-medicate because you are taking a big risk of adverse effects.

I think you have already gone to lowest possible doses and now it's right time to stop it completely. You may not experience any withdrawal symptoms due to withdrawal of this dose but as you are already anxious about withdrawal symptoms which can actually increase your anxiety when you completely stop it. Better to discuss your issue with a psychiatrist and get proper insight so that your anxiety goes away and you can stop taking this medication without experiencing any withdrawal symptoms. Yes, stop it altogether. There is no pharmacological effect, neither is there any known strength or effect of 0.0625 mg.
