This is mostly a temporary medicine and not to be taken lifelong. This is habit forming. And as evident from your post you have already fallen for it. The remedy is not continuing taking this. But consult psychiatrist to come out of it if anything that happened with you long back still bothers you and if you feel suicidal then please immediately seek professional help.

Good evening Lybrate user, I was going through your note. The most common side effect of this medicine (restyl) is lightheadedness. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus. This is usually short-lived and should go away within a few days. If this happens, stop what you are doing and sit or lie down until you feel better. Lying still in a dark, quiet room may help reduce the spinning feeling. Sleep with your head slightly raised on two or more pillows. Get up slowly from a lying or sitting position. Get plenty of rest and try to relax, as being anxious can make it worse. Try taking this medicine at bedtime to reduce the symptom. Drinking plenty of water and ginger tea may also help. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and smoking as it will make you feel worse. Avoid driving or using tools or machinery until you feel better. Physical exercises such as walking may be helpful. My friend, as I see that you are also having symptoms of suicidal ideations signifying major depressive disorder so you may ask your psychiatrist to add a low dose anti-depressant along with this medication. This may solve your concern. Thank you.

Restyl is not given for more than 2 weeks for any condition, the cause for the same, like anxiety, stress, depression, etc needs to be taken. It is a highly habit forming medication with long term side effevt like shrinking of brain, personality changes, depression, withdrawal agitation or even seizures. So kindly consult any psychiatrist and fine way to wane of the same and get your primary condition treated. Good luck.
