Also an ultrasound be done to see whether uterus has any fibroids or some growth to rule out benign or malignant growth. Few blood tests like cbc, thyroid profile, diabetic profile, pap smear need to be done. For treatment we can give tab primolut n 10 mg be for 10-14 days if it is dub. Hi. Mirena is a very good option for menorrhagia. It will be effective for 5 years. Treatment depends on the individual s problem. So as the doctor advised you mirena, she must have done all the tests before advising u. Usually during peri - menopausal age (that is it's time for that in few months/ 1/2 years her periods will stop) so before that she ll have such problems like irregular periods/ heavy bleeding/ spotting etc. If you send me further details about your wife then I can say if mirena is effective for her or not.
