I am 53 years old female and I have diabetes. My weight has also reduced 7 kilos since 5 month. Also I sometimes feel feverish, tired and have shivering feeling. So the doctor told me to have urine test and in the report leukocyte esterase has come 25 which is out of range and rest everything else has come normal. Please tell me what should I do? Do I have any infection? Also I take thyronorm 25, metsmall 500 after dinner, seretide inhaler for thyroid, sugar and bronchitis respectively.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. However, aprt from mentioning presence of leukcocyte esterase in urine, there are no relavant details like Fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, TSH levels, BP readings, height, extent of daily exercise, presence of any symptoms related to infection and lipid profile. Without knowin any of those necessary details it is impossible to give any opinion. Presence of leukocytes does indicate urinary tract infection, but there are no other symptoms then it may not be very significant. Thanks.
