How many days a child of 5 year can continue with this inhaler? Due to covid situation we are unable to see the doctor. Last visited doctor on march, now should we continue with budamate 100? Patient is fine nowadays.

Usual recommendation is 6 to 12 months if child is symptom free you can continue with same dose for 3 months more than reassessment is required.

There are two types of inhalers used for asthma. Rescue medicine (levosalbutamol) and continuation medicine (budesonide etc. Budate (budesonide) is a continuation medication. To be continued as per dose advised for 3 months initially. If the control is good, step down has to be done .that is dose is to be reduced and tapered gradually. This process may take upto one year depending on child's clinical response. Stopping inhaler abruptly may precipitate an episode of exacerbation of asthma.
