I am a diabetic. I have been taking okamet 500 1, teneblu 20 mg 2 ,glix 80 2, betapride 15 mg1 daily for the past 7 months as prescribed by my doctor. My sugar levels show normal with these medications. As due to lock down I couldn't get in touch with my doctor. So should I continue with these medications or consult a doctor.

Hello good morning, you should not take same medication without checking your glucose level regulerly, that is not good for health. Need proper evaluation and followup consultations. Mr Raju Singh, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. However, there is no mention of either FBG, PP glucose levels and HbA1c%. Unless the actual levels are known it is difficult to give any comment or suggestions. So please come back with necessary information. Another important aspect is your weight with a BMI of 33.06 kgs/Sq meter (Normal < 23 kgs/Sq meter), you are already in grade 1 obesity almost going towards grade2. You have an excess of 27 kgs. This can be major hindrance for controlling diabetes. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, you can follow the advice below re home monitoring till the situation is betterand you can meet your doctor monitor blood sugars with glucometer as follows. Fasting and pp on wednesday and 2 hour after lunch and after dinner on sunday and maintain a record. Target fasting < 120 and pp < 160 if your fasting values are > 120 and pp values go above 180, reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava, maida) in each meal and increase the quantity of protein (dhal, egg white, fish or chicken). If in spite of dietary adjustment you sugar levels continue to be high and if your hba1c is more than 8 % seek a consultation to adjust your anti-diabetic drugs
