I was taking anxozap 30 three times a day (06.00 am, 2.00 pm & 10.00 night). Subsequently, after two months, I have reduced the quantity and now am taking half anxozap 15 two times a day (morning 6.00 a.m. And afternoon 1.30 pm). I have been taking for last 4 months. This was prescribed to me to get relief from alcohol withdrawal. Now if I don't take it, I feel uneasiness. How can I stop this medicine without any substitute?

Hi Mr. lybrate-user. Tab anxozap is a benzodiazepine which has potential for addiction like alcohol. It should me used for a short duration as a part of management of alcohol withdrawal as in your case. As far as your query is concerned, it depends upon whether your still consuming alcohol or stopped taking it. If you are still consuming alcohol, and do not want to quit alcohol, there is no point taking anxozap, as it further increases your abuse potential to substances. But if you are not consuming alcohol, then you should change on to another benzodiazepine with which you can taper your doses with our much difficulty and take quit it completely. Contact your psychiatrist for further assistance. Best of luck.
