My father's fasting blood sugar reading is 302 and post prandial blood sugar reading is 472 and there is glucose 1000 mg/dl in urine. What does this say and what has to be done?

Hello, Thanks for the query. 
The glucose levels show he has uncontrolled diabetes. Needs to initiate immediate treatment for the same.  From the given values it appears he must have been having the condition for quite some time, you have failed to detect it. Ut is definitely a dangerous situation if not brought under control rapidly. So either consult a diabetologist locally or send following details through the private conversation : Age, weight, height, dietary pattern, HbA1c%, lipid profile, serum creatinine, urea, BP readings and extent of daily physical activity to me. Then I will give specific suggestions and even prescribe specific drugs as required. 
In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines, no drugs can be prescribed. Please understand he needs immediate treatment. Do not delay. Ideally FBG should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% < 6.5%. With his current levels there can be severe damage to many vital organ systems in the body. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, the reports mean that he has uncontrolled diabetes. With sugars in that range you need to immediately check urine ketone and consult a doctor as he may need insulin for proper control so as to avoid serious problems
