Good afternoon lybrate-user. Spironolactone is just one of the prescribed treatment modalities of hirsutism. It along with other medications can be combined depending on the patient profile. Before a doctor prescribes such medications, the patient is thoroughly evaluated for the indication and any possible contraindications. Results will take time (6 months to a year) and are not seen in all patients so regular follow ups are advised. Photoepilation (laser based or ipl based) is usually combined with treatment to enhance cosmetic benefit.

Aldactone should be started only after dermatolgical consultation in person (bcos this drug has various side effects and contraindications. But yes it is one of the drug for hirsutism and 6 months to 1 year of therapy is required. Laser epilation therapy is better than oral medication for hirsutism but combination therapy is also used. Visit nearest dermatolgist .thanks.
