I met a psychiatrist near my home who did personality test like idep and other stuff and found me suffering from 1. Moderate obsessive thoughts 2. Mild depression symptoms 3. Moderate anxiety I have been put on voxidep 25 mg and etizola 0.25 mg one at night .i have been taking it from 4 days. I am feeling very heavy and having too much palpitations and weakness. Is this normal and will it be ok with time. I was on keppra for 3 years post cerebral thrombosis in 2013.

The medications will take 2 to 4 weeks to act. They seem apt for your findings. Minor initial discomfort is common, if it is much consult your psychiatrist again. Most of the initial discomfort disappears in subsequent days. Good luck.

Just medicines cannot cure your issue. As soon as you stop taking medicines symptoms will come back. You should also consult a clinical psychologist for your issues. Clinical psychologist will help you to deal with your thoughts and help you to reach root of the matter. Therapy and medicines should go hand in hand.

It is normal, initial 1-2 weeks it is usual to have slight worsening of symptoms, but things will improve after that as per text book and your diagnosis. However it is wiser to take ecg and bp and rule out cardiac /hypertension conditions with a physician for your symptoms to be 100% sure. Your drug dosage would have to be raised a lot upto 4-6 times in the future, to completely decrease your primary complaints. Don't worry, just be aware of your drug, you may also need behavioural therapy sessions for a quicker relief (remission)

Although having been on keppra for 3 year after cerebral thrombosis is remote, you seem to have recently been diagnosed with these psychiatric conditions, I believe your medications need some time to start having a positive effect and the side effect of the medicine usually goes away in 5-10 days. You need to consult with your doctor. Initially, you will have some adverse reactions but over time it will settle and become easier to handle. Anxiety and depression oftentimes do go together. Your problem is created by your extreme fear. You must by now know the origin of this fear. Until you deal with this fear you are going to suffer the problems you have listed quite regularly. If you are against the use of medication, then you will have to work very hard with a counselor for a long time to recover. If you do not cooperate then it is futile and is a gross waste of time, money and opportunity. There is nothing wrong with use of medication since it is used as an addendum to the process of therapy. When the medication has served its purpose, then you can discontinue it on the advice of the doctor. In fact, you can mention this to him/her that you do not wish to be on medication for too long. S/he will tell you how long it will take and how much of your cooperation is required. All disorders have a chemical imbalance and that can ideally be stabilized by introducing medication, which are made to mimic the natural neurotransmitters the brain produces. When the chemistry is normalized there is no need for further medication. Then the doctor will gently and gradually withdraw the medication to tease the brain to produce the new normal. Remember you will need to work with the counselor even if you take medication.
