I have sebhorric dermatitis. I use 2% ketoconazole every other day. It keeps it away but has caused unusual hair thinning. I tried biotin supplements but they cause heart palpitations. What should I do?

Dear lybrate-user, thank you for posting your query. Ketoconazole shampoo is rarely associated with hair loss. If your seborrheic dermatitis has improved, you may discontinue ketoconazole shampoo. Or alternately, you can use it twice weekly, then further reduce the frequency to once weekly as maintenance therapy. For proper assessment of hair thinning, please visit a dermatologist near-by or ask for online consultation. Thanks.
