Taking eslomet 2.5 mg (amlodipine +metoprolol) in night after dinner since last 5 years as advised by a patna based physician. My bp was 150/100 when started treatment. Now it remains between 120/80 and 130/90. Sometimes in summer it goes down up to 110/70. 1.now willing to discontinue beta- blocker and to continue only amlodipine. Is it possible. 2. Why advised to take in night. Can I take it in morning after breakfast. I am a 67 years old male and a retired person.

Your bp medicine. You should not stop/change bp tablet without consulting your physician. It only 'controls' bp at certain level but does not cure permanently. Don't change bp dosage without consulting your physician.

Hi beta blocker can be discontinued if only bp remains fine with amlodipine. I will suggest to change amlodipine to arb (telma) if kft is normal. And yes you can take that in morning after breakfast. Thanks.
