My t3 t4 is normal but tsh is 4.77. I got my antibody test done and it is negative. My doctor prescribed me thyronorm 50 mcg and thyropace as I was planning for pregnancy. Should I use thyronorm for just 4.77 tsh levels?

I think you should repeat the test before starting medicines.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Madam, I have seen the details given. Since you are planning to have a baby, then it is very essential to maintain TSH < 2 mU/L, Otherwise ovulation and conception may not happen as required. So please do take the tablets and check your TSH again after 6 weeks, it should be around 2 mU/L. In my opinion 50 mcg may be a bit higher than required, 25 mcg should suffice. So after checking the TSH after 6 weeks you can decide. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, when you are planning a pregnancy, it is prudent to get the tsh level to < 3.5 uiu/ml and that is why your doctor has prescribed medication. The dose may have to ba adjusted during pregnancy to maintain tsh below this level. After delivery most probably you will not need to take the tablets but you will need a follow up
