Query hello doctor I'm 26 years old. I was perfectly fine before. I had acne on my face so the doctor has suggested me to take ?minocycline hydrochloride modified-release capsules? as a part of acne treatment. After taking these for few days I noticed drastic drop in my libido and erections. So I stopped taking that medicine. On the other hand, I did experience a lot of stress and depression in my life. Which has even made my erections and libido worse. What could have gone wrong with me after taking that medicine? Did that medicine mess up with any of my hormones? My parents want me to get married now. I done what should I do now. Kindly help. Thanks.

Hello dear Depression has not been reported for Minocycline. Loss of libido and erections could itself be a part of your depression. Depression is low mood and loss of pleasure for most part of the day, most days of the week, occurring continuously for two weeks. There are other symptoms like decrease or increase in appetite, feeling of hopelessness, helplessness,etc. You need to seek help for depression that will help in your sexual issues as well. Acne and depression can coexist. One of them can precede other as well. This may lead you to conclude a spurious link between medicine and depression. Seek help especially if there is feeling of any suicidal ideation.
