Hello, Thanks for the query. I am sure you must be aware that to be symptoms free one has to maintain TSH level around 3 to 4 mU/L and if a lady is interested in getting pregnant then it should < 2.5 mU/L. Therefore, your current level is high and hence there is a need to increase the dosage of Levothyroxine by at least 12.5 mcg per day, then check TSH again after 6 weeks to see if desired level is achieved. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, it is very common for patients with hypothyroidism to forget medicines on 2-3 days a month. I feel this may be the reason why your recent tsh has gone up to8. 9. Make sure you take the tablet every single day on an empty stomach. You can keep it in the bathroom shelf so that you can take it as soon as you brush your teeth. In case you forget on an occasional day, take it anyway when you remember later in the day. If you forget for a whole day take the extra dose the next day. Follow this advice and recheck free t4 and tsh after 2 months and let me know on an online audio consultaton regards professor m s seshadri.
