Hello, Thanks for the query. Madam, I have seen the details mentioned. Usually at 6.5 mU/L of TSH the condition is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism and no treatment is advocated. However, at that level of TSH if a patient has any severe troublesome symptoms of hypothyroidism then treatment is advised. Plus patient is also asked to check Anti TPO antibodies to see if there is Hashimoto's Thyroiditis(HT). One of the commonly noticed symptoms is weight gain plus patient may have unexplained tiredness and body ache as well as menstrual irregularities. So please let me know why the treatment was started at that level of TSH. Secondly it is necessary to know your weight, height, extent of daily physical activity, lipid profile. TSH at 2.5 mU/L is a good level, when was it is not clear. Another aspect whenever, dosage is altered it is necessary to check TSH after 6 weeks to see if desired level (3 to 4 mU/L) or even as mentioned above is achieved. Thanks.
