Non dietetic person had severe covid and hospitalised for 6 days where taken dexona injections and remdisever as prescribed by doc. But that time didn’t check sugar level. It’s been 15 days of discharge from hospital. Few days back randomly check sugar after 2 hours of lunch n it was 120. Please tell within how many days mucormycosis can occur in post covid or recover person? Any risk here?

The blood glucose value is normal. Mucormycosis infection usually starts in the course of covid treatment or shortly thereafter. It is a fungus and needs an abnormally large amount of glucose in your blood to grow rapidly and cause problems. Keep an watch for pain on one side of your face (usually your forehead, around the eyes, side of your nose and cheeks), fever or irritation in nose / burning sensation. If any of these occur, visit the nearest hospital as they can only be treated with intravenous medications and not any tablets or pills.

Steroids are diabetogenic. That means they can increase sugar levels and they are to be used very carefully as they can cause a lot of problems even though they can be beneficial. Not everybody who has steroids will get mucormycosis. If you maintain good nasal hygiene and eat nutritiously, then probability of mucor is very low.
