I got hit in the eye with pressure air hose 4 days ago. As I work on a ship i'm in middle of se i'm unable to visit a doctor. On ship doctor recommend an ointment so that infection doesn't happen. There's little pain ,slight irritation and redness and the vision feels blurry cause of inflammation. I'm keeping eyes continuously covered with eye patch.

I am sorry to hear about your concern but will be happy to assist you. Blurred vision in only one eye may suggest disorders that occur in the brain or central nervous system, including migraine headaches or pressure on the optic nerve from a tumor. Eye trauma is another cause that might affect only one eye, either from the injury itself or from delayed effects such as cataract formation. Let's connect over a call so that we can discuss your concern in details and make a suitable treatment plan for you.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user! from your description it seems like you have an epithelial defect over your cornea. Due to blunt trauma to the eye especially forceful one (like an air hose pressure) the outermost superficial layer (epithelium) of the black part of eye (cornea) gets eroded, and since cornea is instrumental in vision, that is why you have blurry vision right now. The epithelium will slowly heal by bodys natural mechanism, but might leave a slight scar later on depending upon its depth. Treatment is aimed at preventing infection and avoiding scar formation. My advice- 1. Continue the patching of eye with medications in between. Also few drops and/or ointment need to be started at the earliest so that the resulting scar is minimum to nil. 2. Also you should get your retina checked once to rule out any damage to the same. 3. You can provide a photograph of your eye to seek help from an eye doctor online as you are in the middle of sea. You can reach me out anytime for consultation about your treatment plan. Stay safe. Thank you.
