Both the medication are mood stabilisers and not antidepressants. Both are good and safe, but needs constant supervision and tests by psychiatrist to ensure efficacy. For depressive illness the life span is not much altered by medications, the quality of life is affected during the depressive phase. Generic is good for intake if it works well. Get your pain evaluated by scans and blood tests to know the cause. Meet your psychiatrist regularly, at least once in 3 months and do not self medicate from the shop. He/ she would be able to answer these queries. Good luck.

Dear lybrate-user, both lamez and valance are long term mood stabilizers. Since you are only 35 years old now, you might need to take these medicines for 30, 40 or 50 years more. You will not die of taking these tablets. But your organs may be damaged by these tablets. So you need to follow up with the psychiatrist every 3 months or so. She/he will check you and ask for few blood tests to see the working of organs like liver, kidney, etc. In 30-50 years newer treatments like one shot injection or tablet or operation or magnet or electricity may come up! you will be shifted to them!

Stress patients worry too much. Stress in today?s day & age where stress is high, feelings of frustration can emerge. It is our perception that can change our current negative situation into a healthy & positive one. Another way of perceiving these feelings of frustration can be by looking at them as an opportunity to push ourselves to go that little extra mile until we achieve our objective. However, there are times when we all can go around in circles; and being in this space can be quite upsetting and lead to feelings of dissatisfaction, frustration and can even cloud our mind and judgment. Exercise one hr daily, oil massage body, hobby, support from friends family, help others, weekly holiday, yoga, meditation can continue with generic.

Firstly learn that depression is normal. Anyone can have that. If your depression is of high level, try to visit a psycologist. Yes I have done that too, but just for few months, as I figured out her fees was 500 bucks everytime I visited her. But ignore the fees, as it might be helpful to you. Try to find a hobby. Yes, it helps. It can be anything- music, art, quora, etc. I started photography and started from very basic things. Met a lot of people with same interest and learned from them too. It helped me to be busy and focus on more positive things in life. Set achievable goals and focus on them. I used to participate in competitions and try to win them most of the times. Even is you know you?ll lose, just participate. It will give you an experience on how things work, how amazing people are when they compete with each other. Read positive literature and listen something good everyday. Surround yourself with people who have plans and solutions instead of excuses. Ask help from them and sometimes help them too with their lives. Learn that no one is perfect. Everyone has flaws and thats what makes us all beautiful. Read biography of any great man and you?ll find how they managed to pass the hardships to become something remarkable. Remember that depression is temporary. It will never last. But if you feed it everyday, it might get over you and make it hard to live. Think of your parents. Everyone does not have one. Think how hard it will be for them to live without you. Think of your friends and the people who love you. God never gives everyone a second chance. Failures, heartbreaks, loss, accidents, rejections are all part of life. You will face these again in the long run of your life. Everyday is a new challenge and be ready to face it. Dream of a future you want to live in. One day this depression will not even matter to you and you will laugh at all the things that made you sad. Patience is the key. Depression never ends in a day. It takes time to get over it. Believe that you can win over it, and you surely will.
