I have got a hygiene clean and didn?t know she did a scaling and polishing on me. I regret going to that specific dentist and should have probably just used a better recommended mouthwash for the little tarter I had built up. She ruined my front bottom teeth because I had no gaps and the gum she cut it off because it was pointy and attached to my teeth in between but it?s all of a sudden and half the amount after I left the appointment. I?m so shocked and it?s kn two places that she did and one worse than the other. I?m 100 percent sure my gum was not was it receding in anyway. Please if you can explain what happened and what did and if my gum will grow or get better. It was done on monday and it?s been thee days I don?t see an improvement and I feel like it?s getting worse. Please help me and what I can do to fix this too.

Hi lybrate-user. Though it will not be very apt to comment without proper evaluation I want to explain you a few common things. 1) the equipment used for scaling or cleaning of tooth does not destroy your tooth structure, as it has a scientific way of working. 2) most of the times due to heavy deposition of tartar the spaces between the teeth may be filled up and look abd feel smooth. 3) these depositions may be over the tooth and around the margins of the tooth around the gums. 4) in such conditions its mandatory for proper scaling of the teeth. 5) after scaling these plaque and calculus (tartar) are removed and you might feel the edges of teeth a bit uneven as per actual morphology of teeth and gums. 6) this procedure helps to bring your teeth and gums to a healthy state and chances of any kind of damage is little. 7) so my opinion you should not worry with this. Still any doubt visit your dentist in person.

Always remember scaling and polishing will never create gaps in the teeth. Scaling and polishing will never cut the gums. There is a reason why 1. The instrument that is used to do scaling is a vibrating machine, it vibrates at 120000 rpm i.e speed and some even more. So a vibrating instrument will only vibrate the calculus which you call tartar, and thus the calculus get removed. 2. The instrument that is used to do scaling has no cutting surface, so in no way it can cut gums. Reasons for all that you are facing lies in the plaque, calculus, bacteria that was internally creating injury to the gums. It is good that you got it done. Because removing calculus which you think is tartar is hard, cannot be removed by using mouthwash, or brushing it can only be removed by scaler instrument. Its good that you got it done now because the plaque, calculus, the bacteria which was earlier harming your gums are gone now. Scaling remove calculus when removed it seems to the patient that there is gap created there is senstivity there is gumreceeding but nothing happens because of scaling or polishing. After this yours gums will remain healthy. If you continue brushing both times, there is very less plaque on your teeth. And no plaque, no calculus. But for that you need to start brushing twice, mouthwash, restrict sugar, flossing.
