Mr Vijeesh, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Telmisartan an antihypertensive drug also does help in reducing microalbuminuria. So it may be used in persons with increased microalbuminuria. That drug does not increase the level of creatinine. Creatinine is an indirect measure of efficiency of kidney function. In diabetes when disease is present over a long period, that can affect kidney functions, particularly if blood glucose is not well controlled. Even when glucose is well controlled there is a certain degree of affection to the kidney functions. So that may reflect in as increased creatinine level. Since there is no mention of fasting, PP glucose levels & HbA1c% and about the duration of diabetes no furher comments can be made. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.

You should probably have a scan of your kidneys and consult a nephrologist to make sure that there are no renal causes apart from diabetes. Telmisartan can transiently change creatinine levels but it protects the kidneys. How is your blood pressure. Try to consult a doctor.
