Hi I had two different consultations with two doctors. They were prescribing me anti depressant for anxiety but I do not want to take medicines and only rely on psychotherapy. But they did tell me take sos medication if I feel anxious. One doctor has prescribed etilaam 0.5 sos and the other doctor has prescribed clonotril 0.25 sos. I am skeptical in taking medications, but I would like to know which one is better out of the two. I have anxiety of going out and also worry about my health a lot. Kindly advise. Thanks.

Hello Lybrate user, hope you r doing good. I can understand your worrying thoughts abt your health. It sounds good that you r ready to take psychotherapy sessions to overcome from anxiety. But if you will start the medicine which is prescribed by Dr. & at the same time you will start the psychotherapy sessions it will help alot to descrease the symptoms of anxiety. So I think medicine is also plays a important role to overcome from anxiety along with psychotherapy sessions. Hope you got the answer of your question and have a good day. For the sessions you can consult me. Thank you.

Dear lybrate-user, why do you consult doctors, if you do not want to take medicines? You can consult a clinical psychologist or a life coach or any guru with whom you have faith. You know faith heals! now do you want to take medicine? If so, take anyone of them, try going out without much anxiety. Ultimately you should be able to live your life without much worry.

Dear lybrate-user, both medicines are good for anxiety but I like that you don't want to rely on medication alone. You are not dealing with fear properly and therefore it is incrementally growing into abnormal fear, and anxiety. Check if you have this fear from childhood and for some reason you haven't been dealing with it. Counseling will help you tremendously if you cooperate. Anyway, good exercise with developing your physical fitness, adequate sleep will keep you calm, a proper diet will help you nutritionally, and stress management skills will help deal with your emotions. This combination along with the counseling will make anxiety a bygone issue.

Mr. lybrate-user, sos medications will only give you a symptomatic relief. Afterwards symptoms will recur. Why don't you take proper anxiolytic medicines so that your abnormal neurotransmitter levels can be corrected? Also do start cbt sessions alongside.
