Hi, initially I have 16lmiu/ml. My doctor prescribed me thyronorm tab at the dosage of 12. 5 mcg. And now I have 4miu/ml. Do I need to continue with dosage? Or do I need to stop consuming tablets? Is there any specific diet for it?

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. From that it appears you are referring to the tsh values as nothing is written about what are these levels. Plus there is no mention of t3 & t4 levels. So without knowing the whole picture it is difficult to comment. Another aspect is are there any symptoms that you have now? So my suggestion is please come back with all the hormone levels, then I will be able to comment. Hypothyroidism is a hormone (thyroxine t4) deficiency disorder, where ones thyroid is not able to produce adequate quantity of that hormone. Since it is required for majority of body's metabolic functions and normal functioning of brain, it has to be supplemented from outside. Invariably the hormone replacement has to go on for life. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
