I am male, age. 18. The skin over my tooth (i do not know if they are called gums) are reducing. I was using hard tooth brush but changed to soft a month ago, but it did not made any difference. Please tell me the reasons and remedy. Thankyou.

Hi. Very good observation by you. At this early age its not a good sign but lucky for you at this age it can be easily corrected also as your body has good repair powers, your brushing technique is not right. You should not brush with horizontal strokes on your teeth and gums, instead use short gentle vertical strokes and brush gently in small circles also. Use a soft brush and change it after 3 months.

It is good thing that you changed your tooth brush to soft. But you also need to improve your brushing technique, you might be suffering from periodontitis. Do you have bleeding gums or bad breath? you can start with warm water gargles twice a day, flossing everyday and brushing twice a day.
