Hello. I take fluoxetine 40 and atomoxetine 18 in the morning to deal with my adhd symptoms. Due to sleeplessness in the night, my psychiatrist has prescribed either sizodon 2 or quetiapine 25 in the night after dinner. Just to get more feedback, are these antipsychotic very safe for insomnia? I'm pre diabetic and also want to know how the withdrawals from antipsychotic medication will be.

Antipsychotics per se have no withdrawal symptoms. Rather withdraw of antipsychotics may lead to recurrence of symptoms for which they were indicated. Considering prediabetes risperidone and quetiapine are safe choices. Only thing you need to keep a tab on your weight. That's it.

Dear lybrate-user, you psychiatrist knows your diagnosis and treatment algorithms. Sizodon or quetiapine is given to augment fluoxetine and atomoxetine - not just for insomnia. They are given at low dose also. Still you need to make lifestyle changes to control your weight, sugar levels and other medical illnesses. (i don't know your age - but I know your weight as 104 kg). Don't worry about withdrawals now - it is a long way.
