Regards, Lybrate user. I appreciate your observation in regard to the pain. One needs to understand that pain over the top of the head or back of the head may arise from issues in the neck. It is termed "cervicogenic headaches. The head is balanced upon 7 spinal bones in the neck (which has a small curve backwards, which acts like a spring for absorbing stress). If the head is well balanced on the neck, the weight of the head will tend to fall slightly in front of the vertebrae, making the head fall forward and the muscles on the back of the head pull it backward to counterbalance (like a see-saw). with bad postures of the neck (what is termed as "forward head posture"), the head moves forward too far, and so the weight of the head falling forward gets multiplied by the distance from the vertebrae. A similar force will now have to be exerted by the muscles of the back of the neck. In your scenario, your muscular system might have reached a tipping point, when you can really appreciate the increased weight of your hair adding to the forward forces and feel better if the hair is cut off. It is of essence to first take remediative steps to correct your head/neck posture, then strengthen your neck muscles to rebalance the system. Then the headaches may automatically reduce in intensity and frequency. Please feel free to reach out to us for a virtual consult using doctor code drc221, so we could help you get better.
