He is 84. Long ago someone told him that he wl die in 84th year. Now that is bothering him. He has lost appetite n says that I do not feel like eating n something is bothering me but not ready to accept that the reason is that prediction. Should we take him to a psychiatrist.

No, he does not need a psychiatrist. If you can, talk to him openly about what he thinks about death in general. Find out if he is scared of death and what about it scares him. It must be hard for him to live every single moment after entering into 84th year, because of the prediction. Discuss with him about his belief on predictions, and has he experienced that predictions can gone wrong. Also very tactfully discuss with him, what is the point in dying every moment under the fear when death is certain for everyone. Encourage him to enjoy life to the fullest. Also find out if something else is bothering him. If he is open about his feelings discuss how he would like to settle things after his death. All this may sound little nasty, but if you can make him talk about his worries, it will help him. All the best.
