I am a hypothyroid patient since long time. Of course it is detected very early and I am taking thyronorm tablet. I want to know about my mood swings especially at the time of periods. Why I get confused at times when speaking and present irrelevant statements sometimes. I was told that if thyroid function becomes normal there is nothing to worry about this. My tsh level is rarely reaching to higher level and other times it is normal. What do you suggest.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. As you have stated, if hypothyroidism is well controlled, the person has absolutely normal life. There are hardly any issues. However, if you are having "mood swings" even when thyroid hormone levels are normal (no levels are mentioned, so difficult to comment), then one has to look for are there any other causes. The information given is very nonspecific, that is there is no way to know whether the person is a male or female, what is the height & weight, hormone levels including tsh & anti tpo antibodies, lipid profile etc. Unless every information is there, no comments can be made. Thanks.
