While green tea and coffee both have caffeine, coffee has a significantly greater amount per cup. The three effects most commonly associated with caffeine use are increased mental alertness, increased urination and headache reduction. Caffeine promotes these effects in you by relaxing smooth muscle, stimulating cardiac muscle and promoting diuresis. If you are looking at mental alertness while training then coffee is a much better choice than green tea. Green tea by itself has many health benefits. You can have a green tea any time of the day.
