Hi I have been taking inderal/ciplar for performance anxiety. At once it was effective to relive the symptoms. Now it seems not working for me any more. Can I have alternate option for propranolol. I researched about metoprolol and atenolol can anyone suggest brand name and how should I take it and how much dose for performance anxiety. Usually I take ciplar 40 mg 2 hour before an event. Can I take similar for atenolol or metoprolol? Please help as my anxiety symptoms are worse.

If propranolol has stopped working, there is high likelihood that other beta blockers also won't work. Propranolol, atenol & metoprolol are drugs of same class. It's in your best interest if you consult a psychiatrist and discuss regarding occasional use (whenever needed) of etizolam/clonazepam or regular use (prophylaxis) of a medicine from ssri class.

They are actually cardio selective and may not work, better take a safe low dose transient release Benzo before the performance along with Propranolol. Good luck.
