Hi lybrate-user. Before getting braces, you'll need to have a teeth cleaning and have all other dental work completed. This may include having wisdom teeth removed so they don't interfere with the orthodontic treatment. A root canal procedure is recommended and performed only when there is an oral health need and other procedures cannot fix the problem. Not having this suggested dental procedure done can lead to more advanced problems. If you have not started orthodontic treatment, we recommend to complete root canal procedure before getting your braces or invisalign. But crowns after root canal treatment should always be postponed until after orthodontic therapy, however root canal therapy must be done so that infection can not progress and create more danger for you. Stable, permanent, build-up restorations must be done after the root canal therapy and should hold up during your orthodontic phase. Hope your doubts are cleared. This is an excellent query. While you can complete all the rct that are required, do not get permanent crown done until braces/aligner treatment is over. You can have temporary crowns till then. After the braces treatment, you may go for zirconia or other crowns.
