Hello doctor, my mom went under an open heart surgery few years ago, she is taking all the medicine described by the surgeon, but from last 1 week there is a swelling in her leg, the leg has swollen very much she can not even walk properly, why is it so?

It is quite difficult comment without actually examining the patient in such specific complaint. History of open heart surgery years ago and swelling in one leg now does not seem to have any obvious link. A Doppler examination of the affected leg is advisable to lok for evidence of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis ). Let a qualified physicianexamine her without wasting time and follow his advice accordingly.
