My sister is severely depressed. We took her to a psychiatrist but she did not take the medicines and threw it away. Now she is not ready to go to the doctor and will not talk t any relatives. We are really worried about her and do not know how to help her out? Kindly give any suggestions.

Good morning ~ I am glad that you are looking to help your sister. Depression can a disabling condition and as may well know it takes time to be able to look at the person in a way that would make her feel comfortable seeking and getting treatment. There is stigma that exists in society regarding mental health issues. I am not sure why your sister threw away her medications however it is best for her to talk to a psychiatrist online if she is not willing to go to them in person.
