Hello Lybrate user. U r at borderline of diabetics. Please do follow a regular diet control by cutting down all the sugars, vegetables of potato family, oils, red meat etc. Cut down the junk n processed foods. Go for regular walking. Dates should be avoid completely. Raisins can be taken occassionally.

Up to 6.0 is OK. 6-6.50 is Pre Diab 6.5+ is in Diabetic range. However you can do A1c test again after a week at different lab. Plus do a FBS and PP also. Then only it can be confirmed about the diagnosis.

HbA1c% 7 means confirmed diabetes. If a person has confirmed diabetes, then proper treatment with anti-diabetic drugs is a must. Diabetes is a preventable disease, but only in pre-diabetes stage. Once it develops, then treatment with appropriate drugs plus diet control and exercise are required. There absolutely no other option. Dry fruits can be eaten but not date and resins. 5 to 8 almonds a day a few pieces of walnuts can be taken. At the most a single date may be taken and about a few resins, that too with excellent blood glucose control. Thanks.
