My sister son, age is 5 years and he is suffering with ITP, DOCTOR TOLD BLOOD platelets got decreased. Actually doctor told to admit in hospital, is this any thing problem and how to cure it permanently .Please help.

Platelets is blood component like RBC, WBC.they help in cloting of blood. Hence Dr. Advisee is correct. I TP is aitoimmune disease and have many subclass of diagnosis. Child needs to be in constant observation for internal or external bleeding. Hence I would advise to continue with treatment. Thanks.

ITP may occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks platelets. In children, it may follow a viral infection. In adults, it may be chronic. Symptoms may include easy bruising, bleeding and pinpoint-sized reddish-purple spots on the lower legs. In children, ITP usually resolves without any treatment. Adults commonly need treatment with medications for bleeding. Rarely the spleen may need to be removed. It can be cured and be in hospital for monitoring.

ITP in large number of cases is a benign condition and self limiting. They do not require any intervention unless platelets count is too low less than 20000 per cmm or there is any evidence of internal bleeding. Ideally Platelet should be given NOT BLOOD unless there there is frank haematuria or hemetemesis. Steroids ANTI RH-D iv gamma globulin are sheet Anchor in management of ITP.

This needs detailed evaluation and treatment to prevent bleeding and manage complications. Usually self limited condition.
