Hello sir, I am suffered from high RBS (SUGAR) problem. My age is 60. BUT also I am suffering from cataract I wanna operate my self in a eye specialist hospital but they always told me that control your sugar your self. Suppose if I control my sugar before surgery then WHAT if, sugar increases after surgery? Also suggest me else I choose a EYE specialist hospital or a MULTI SPECIALIST HOSPITAL (who control sugar by themselves)?

Dear Sir please note that sugar control pre and post operatively is very important and it can be achieved by proper treatment by a diabetology specialist. You can approach a diabetologist in you nearby locality a opthalmologist will not be able to advice or medicate you for your sugar control. Please approach a multispeciality setup where in you can avail the diabetology as well as cataract services for convenience. The diabetologist will be able to take care of post operative sugar control however it also requires compliance to the treatment and diet from your end .Thanks.

Do not worry. The method of surgery has changed and a good surgeon can control your blood sugar within a day and perform safe surgery.

You can undergo cataract surgery once ure rbs is les than 200. Second thing. Please consult an endocrinologist or a md physician who can eithet put you on insulin or oral medicines. Once it is controlled you can undergo surgery. Do not try to deliberately or forcefully control ure sugar levels. If it increases aftet surgery it poses problem in healing and make you prone for infection. Hence controlling sugar levels are mandatory.
