If you are planning for a baby and if hypothyroidism is present, then it is absolutely essential that it is completely brought under control by taking adequate dose of levothyroxine. TSH levels should be maintained below 2 mU/L for conception to occur. Plus throughout the 3 trimesters of pregnancy TSH should be maintained around 2 mU/L. This will ensure proper fetal development and growth. Plus she should avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, mustard, coffee. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits.Always use whole grain flour for chapati and roti. Avoid pastries and other bakery items, plus foods made out of maida.
