Thanks for the query. In persons with with long standing diabetes peripheral neuropathy is a common occurrence. To reduce the intensity of the symptoms strict blood glucose control is very essential. Fasting should be closer to 100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c%<7. If these levels are achieved, then most symptoms can be well controlled. Tingling, numbness and burning sensation are the most common symptoms. There are variuos medications available to try and mitigate the pain and burning like methylcobalamine, in combination with lipoleic acid, folic acid and also drugs like gabapentine and pragabalin.
